Student Employee of the Year Guidelines
The application for Student Employee of the Year 2023 is now closed! Thank you to all those who nominated a student employee.
Nominations will be judged on 5 key categories; Community Service, Diversity & Inclusion, Leadership, Technology & Innovation and Critical Thinking
Nomination Category Guidelines
Nominees must meet the following criteria:
- Students must be currently enrolled at the nominating institution
- Students must be in an undergraduate program; graduate students and teaching assistants are not eligible for this award
- Students must hold an hourly employee position; salary staff are not eligible
If you wish to nominate an hourly student employee, please complete the online nomination form and submit it by February 1st, 2023. The nomination form can be found in OneApp and requires the nomination in the form of a letter, limited to two pages.

Tip: We recommend completing the nomination in a separate document and then transferring it into OneApp as you cannot save your progress and return later. The submission must take place in one sitting.
You may nominate more than one hourly student employee for this award by completing a separate nomination form for each individual student, but each NetID can be used only once. Consider partnering with someone to nominate so you can submit multiple students.
Please note that additional materials will not be considered. The information you provide may be shared with the public through press releases and other promotional opportunities.
Timeline:
December 5th: Nomination form sent to supervisors
February 1st: Nominations due at 11:59 P.M.
March 23rd: Award Reception
Plans to celebrate all our nominees with a reception are in the works! Supervisors and nominated students will be invited after our submissions are complete.
The winner from Iowa State University will be entered in a regional and national competition with the Midwest Association of Student Employment Administrators and National Student Employment Association.
