Student Loan Funding Issues
Lenders in the FFELP program for Stafford and PLUS loans have released statements regarding student loan funding for the 2009-2010 school year.
The Office of Student Financial Aid would like to remind students and parents that:
- Iowa State University participates in the Direct Loan Program and borrows its Stafford and PLUS Loan funds from the US Department of Education
- There is no shortage of funding in the Direct Loan Program
- Iowa State University students and families will continue to receive their Direct Stafford and PLUS Loan funds for 2009-2010 and beyond
Iowa Student Loan (lenders of the Partnership Loan program) recently announced that they will suspend private loan operations and will not be processing new loans until further notice.
Students and families are reminded that they should always exhaust their federal loan options prior to applying for private loans.
