burdic, Anna Lalor program

The Anna Lalor Burdick Program offers grants to women in the field of human reproductive education for young women. Reproductive education must be the centerpiece of the proposed project, which should include attention to the subjects of contraceptives and pregnancy termination. The project must focus on young women, including young mothers and preteens. Grants may range from $10,000 to $50,000 per year. Renewal for one additional year is possible under special circumstances.

Department of energy graduate fellowships

Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE CSGF)

This fellowship is for undergraduate seniors or first or second year graduate students planning full-time study toward a PhD. in the physical, engineering, computer, mathematical, or life sciences. Recipients receive payments of all tuition and required fees for up to 4 years of study, $28000 yearly stipend, matching funds for a computer workstation up to $2500, yearly academic allowance of $1000, yearly conferences, and opportunity to complete a practicum at a national DOE laboratory. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent resident aliens.

High Performance Computer Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE-HPCS)

This fellowship is for undergraduate seniors or first or second year graduate students planning full-time study toward a PhD. in computer science with an emphasis on high-performance computing. Recipients receive payments of all tuition and required fees for up to 4 years of study, $24000 yearly stipend, workstation allowance, yearly academic allowance of $1000, and the opportunity to complete a practicum at a national DOE laboratory. National Physical Science Consortium (NPSC) - Graduate fellowships in the physical sciences

Applicant must be studying Astronomy, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geology, Material Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physics, and their subdisciplines and related engineering fields: Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Environmental, and Mechanical. To be eligible you must also be (1) a US citizen and (2) in your senior year with at least a 3.0/4.0, OR in your first year of a grad program pursuing a Ph.D., OR in a terminal master's program (no Ph.D. in your discipline at your university), OR returning to the workforce with no more than a master's degree. All qualified students are encouraged to apply, but emphasis will be placed on underrepresented minorities (African American; Hispanic; Native American Indian, Eskimo, Aleut; Pacific Islander - Polynesian;) and/or female.

Award include Tuition, Fees; Stipend: Years 1-4 $12,500/yr., Years 5-6 $15,000/yr; plus two summers paid research employment. Valued at $156,000 to $200,000 depending on the University.

Applicants must be United States citizens or nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States. Those eligible to apply are college seniors, first-year graduate students, and others who have completed a limited amount of graduate study in science, mathematics, or engineering. Women who intend to pursue graduate degrees in engineering or in computer and information science and engineering and who meet the eligibility requirements above can apply for the additional WENG or WICS awards.

Scholarships ($2500 to $5000)

  • be engaged in active research towards the cure of Alzheimer's or AIDS
  • be working towards a graduate degree
  • submit a letter from the supervising professor

  • submit a progress report at agreed upon intervals
  • limit the use of funds for administrative purposes to 5%
  • submit a letter detailing how funds are to be used
  • designate a person to oversee the spending of funds

SAE Doctoral Scholars Program

To be eligible, candidates must hold an undergraduate degree from an engineering program at a school where the undergraduate program is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. At the time of application, applicant must be admitted to a doctoral program with the purpose of teaching engineering at the college level. Loans are available in amounts up to $5,000 for three years, with a total of $15,000. For each year spent teaching engineering, one year's loan will be forgiven.

To be eligible for the one-year fellowship, the candidate must be:

  • A United Methodist of racial ethnic minority heritage
  • A recent college or seminary graduate who has broad communications training, including an understanding of effective public relations
