Corrections
On the web
- You must have
your Department of Education PIN number. To obtain a PIN, eligible
students AND parents can visit www.pin.ed.gov.
Click "Apply for PIN" near the top of the page. Allow three
days to receive a PIN via e-mail.
- If the information you entered on your FAFSA was
estimated or incorrect as of the day you submitted the FAFSA,
you can visit www.FAFSA.ed.gov,
click on "Make corrections to a Processed FAFSA"; far right
section of the page.
You cannot change:
- Your Social Security Number
- Your marital status (your marital status
applies to the day you filed your FAFSA; this field cannot be changed
if you married after filing the FAFSA)
***If
you have already provided a copy of your tax information to the
office of student financial aid for verification
purposes; please make no further changes to the FAFSA; contact the
financial aid office at 1-800-478-2998 for any further necessary
changes.
On Paper
- Approximately
2-3 weeks after submitting a paper FAFSA to the Federal Student
Aid Program you will receive a SAR (Student
Aid Report).
- The SAR is proof that your FAFSA was received.
If you do not receive the SAR within three weeks, please check online
at www.FAFSA.ed.gov or
call 1-800-433-3243
- If you provide your e-mail address in question
13, you will receive your information within a few days.
- To make corrections you will use the SAR.
- Make the necessary changes in the spaces provided
and only fill in the areas that need corrected.
- Once finished, you must sign and mail the corrected
SAR back to: Federal Student Aid Programs P.O. Box 4691 Mt Vernon,
IL 62864-0059.
